A lot of times I get bored. If I'm not sleeping or eating, I'm working on a project. One of my most exciting projects is a HID conversion for the hatchback.
I used to have the cheap projectors I got off ebay. They looked cool, but I couldn't see squat on the road. And sadly, my stock lights aren't much better, but they also aren't aimed properly either.
A few months back I was perusing ebay and found a seller who was selling quite a few headlamps from various cars. He seemed legit. I bought a set of Audi A6 HID with ballast from him. Then like a couple of weeks later I saw a post from him on a site where he said some web boards were calling him a thief. That freaked me out because I bought my lights from him! Oh well. What can I do now?
So as the project goes, I took my existing projector housing apart (the easiest thing on my plate to do) and realized that the new projector wouldn't fit without some major modifications. It took me some time to figure this out and not without a lot of frustration, either. I had to create something to hold the projector in place inside the houseing as well as retrofit the bracket which allows the projector to be adjusted externally.
The rings were made from 1/4" thick plexiglass. The brackets were screwed and glued to the plexiglass. I used heavy duty silicone to hold the plexiglass in place on the projector. A lot of fitting and shifting and refitting went into to this.
