Pedang Lombok Rajahan Ayat Wafak Perak.

Pedang Lombok Rajahan Ayat Wafak Perak – A very good and rare example of a sword or pedang from the island of Lombok. Handle is made of buffalo horn and is carved with relief bird like motifs. Base of hilt is encased with plain silver. Wooden sheath is fully encased with well repoussed silver with different motifs at the front and back.

Very sturdy blade with a single sharp edge and an arcing profile has fine Islamic silver koftgari works showing the Shahadah and Arabic numerals or wafak, at the base, Allah and Mohammad repeated at the middle, and repeated Shahdah at the top.

Pamor pattern are condense and are arranged in the mlumah technique of the wos
utah or scattered rice variations.  The pamor wos utah is said to enhance the owner’s material well being.

Condition: Very good condition. Aside from very minor dents at the silver sheath, rest is all in very good condition.

Age:  Krises and other edge weapons are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece,  from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the middle 19th century.
