Keris Minang Luk 5 Pamor Miang Tulang 609 – A good and rather rare example of a keris from the Sumatran regions of Minang Kabau. Handle in the typical Minang jawa demam form is made from buffalo bone. Top sheath is made of ebony wood having a buffalo bone top and bottom tip in the patat lipas or roaches back form. A thick silver plated brass ferrule or pendoko completes fittings.

Thick and very sturdy blade with 5 meandering waves or luks and prominent thick spine, has very well executed and deep perabots or base features.
Pamor pattern are condense and are arranged in the mlumah technique of the wos uitah or scattered rice variations.

At certain places the patterns are homogenous (crystal like) are suggest the presence of meteoric metals, or also called pamor miang in Malay.

Condition: Very good condition.

Age:  Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the early 19th century blade, with mid to late 20th century fitting.
