Keris Lombok Luk 11 Ayat Emas.
Keris Lombok Luk 11 Ayat Emas – Another very good
and rare example of a keris form the island of Lombok. Handle in the typical
gadoan styles and the top sheath are made from very well selected pelet
woods with natural contrasting grains. The bottom stem has the front panel also
made from very well selected pelet woods, and has traces of old paint at
the back. A silver mendak with low grade gemstones completes fittings.
thick and very sturdy blade with prominent spine and 11 meandering luks
or waves, has very well executed and deep perabots with the fullers or
sogokans extending to nearly half way up the blade.
The base cross piece or ganjar is made from very dark high carbon metals
that have a reference called ganjar wulung. On the ganjar are fine
gold koftgari Arabic inscriptions of the invocation “Lailaha illa Allah,
Muhammad Rasulu Allah”, i.e: No god but Allah, and Muhammad is his
messenger.
Pamor patterns are condense and are arranged in the mlumah technique of
the kulit semangko or melon’s skin pamor. This pamor is said to enhance
the owner’s popularity.
Condition: Very good condition. Aside from part of the gold koftgari
inscriptions fallen off, rest is all in very good condition.
Age: Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the late 19th century.
Length of blade: 14". Overall length: 23.1".
