Keris Jawa Luk 3 Jangkung Koro Welang 609 .

Keris Jawa Luk 3 Jangkung Koro Welang 609 – A very good and rare example of a keris from the central Javanese regions of Surakarta. Fittings in the gayaman surakarta forms, with the handle made of hard trembalo(?) woods and the top sheath made from a single piece of well selected kemuning(?) or woods having tight tiger’s stripe grains. Bottom stem is encased with an open plain thick brass cover or pendok blewah. A gold plated brass ferrule or mendak completes fittings.

Long and very sturdy blade with 3 waves or luks, has very well executed perabots or base features with an overall shape or dapor called jangkung in Javanese.

Pamor patterns are rare, and are arranged in the miring technique showing groups of horizontal line arrangements called the pamor koro welang, or monkey’s stripes.
This rare pamor is sought after as it is said to enhance the owner’s status as well as popularity.

Condition: Very good condition.

Age:  Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the early 19th century blade, with early to mid 20th century fitting.

Length of blade: 15".   Overall length: 19.3".

Price:- US$300 excluding shipping.
