A tranquil land embellished with a vision of green, Kerala is
tucked away at the farthest end of India. It is the sea that moulded
Kerala's history and lush landscape that evolved it into a land of charm.
Legend attributes the formation of Kerala to Parasuraman.
But the history of Kerala is not confined to a particular person or period.
It stretches right from the ancient Vedic period to the medieval age
when the trade with the Arabs flourished. Due to the formidable
Western Ghats, Kerala or Venad as it was then known, was able to maintain
its distinctive cultures and tradition. At the same time it is important to mention
that the influence of different cultures, be it Arabic, Portugese or English
have been responsible in giving shape to the Modern Kerala of today. The
Kerala State as we know today was officially formed on Nov. 01, 1956. Enchanting locations, picturesque surroundings, unspoilt,
unpolluted. This is the Kerala of today. As a backwater wonderland, Kerala
is beautiful with its magnificient scenery. A maze of rivers, canals and lagoons
weave through the inland and it is this palm shaded scenario that sets it apart
from the rest of the country.KERALA
