Hamfest India, 2006 |
www.kollamhamfest.com The Hamfest India, 2006 will be conducted on 9th and 10th September, 2006 at Kollam. This time the event will be conducted by the Quilon Amateur Radio League in connection with the silver jubilee celebrations of the club. The hon’ble minister for Overseas Indian Affairs, Shri Vayalar Ravi has kindly consented to inaugurate the function.
Delegate fee: The delegate fee is fixed at Rs.400/- per head.
Early Bird registration: Those who register before 31st July, 2006 needs to pay Rs.350/- only. The M.O or DD in favour of “The Quilon Amateur Radio League, Kollam” may be sent to Mr. K.G.Nadarajan, VU2KGN, Pattathuvila, Kadappakkada, Kollam – 691 08.
Those who reserve the railway tickets are advised to get the return tickets confirmed
since it is the festival season (Onam festival).

Ham Expo 2005 |
| AARC
is conducting the 10th Ham Expo 2004 to be held on Sunday 13th
November at Govt. UP School , Adur . Venue is very near to Adur
KSRTC bus station and opposite to the Parthasaradhy Temple .
There will be a seminar on Amateur Radio with special emphasis,
latest technologies and communication . There will also be an
exhibition and sale of Ham equipments , accessories , antennas
, test equipments etc .Hams and clubs are free to display their
materials with out any charge, but they must intimate their
requirements of space and number of plug points in advance .

Ham Fair 2005 |

Ham
fair 2005 and 9th vhf fox hunt by the Quilon Amateur
Radio League on sunday, the 17th april 2005. Venue
: Jaldarshini Auditorium, Thevally Kollam. Fox hunt
will start at 8 am. 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners will be awarded
the CSD rolling shield, in addition to cash awarda Rs. 1000,
500 250 respectively. Inaguration function at 11 am. Exhibition
at 11.30 am to 4.30 pm. Registration fee Rs. 100 per
head. No seperate registration fee is required for those who
register for the participation of the fox hunt . Eearly bird
registration:-Those who register on or before 10th April,
will get a chance to include their name in a draw of lot.
Crossed DD / Postal Orders may be send to the treasurer. Mr.

691013, MO / out station cheques will not be accepted.
A boating is arraged for the enjoyment of participants. Low
cost dormetry accomodation is also available.

Kollam
repeater connected with Echolink |

On
21st April onwards the Kollam repeater is connected to Echolink.
Any Hams can talk to connected stations including DX Hams
through the repeater. Now at 9.30 to 11.30 PM IST, this link
will be available free for all Hams. Kollam Repeater (VU2CSD)
VHF evening net on 145.350 MHz -shift can be heard at 9.30
PM through. There are 5 repeaters in India are linked to Echo
link now. Some are online round the clock and some, connected
at particular time. Echolink

OM.
Madhava Menon, VU2MAH was born on 15th May 1920 at Chalakkudy.
After doing his schooling at the Govt. High School, he completed
his graduation in Economics at Maharajas College - Cochin.
He started his career in the Indian Navy. After completing
one and half years there in the wireless wing, he was in the
editorial board of Bombay Chronicle for 10 years. Further
Menonji worked with the Free Press Journal for 2 years. After
returning from Bombay, he was at Alwaye for a few years before
he came to settle at Kollam in 1984. He appeared for the ASOC
Exam and got the licence in 1985. OM. Menon has been very
active in HF with his home brewed AM equipment. Later on he
made an SSB tranceiver. He is also very active in the VHF
band which is the only commercial equipment he is using. OM
Madhava Menon has two children, son is a doctor and his daughter
is settled in the US along with her husband.
He
made his last qso in Ham Radio in VHF in Kollam repeater with
VU3APQ Om Anish on 7th February at 5.15 to 5.35 PM , just
before his death and entered data in Log Book. |
