Chapter two
Awakening

Part One
Ellettes POV
"Ellette! Ellette! Wake up!" I grimaced at the high pitched sound of a little girls voice.
I slowly opened my eyes to find myself on the pavement of my little next door neighbors driveway.
"Aimee? What are you doing here?" I mumbled grogily. My body felt so heavy. I didnt want to move. I was so drained, I didnt know what to do. My stomach was turning backflips, and I knew without even feeling that I had a fever,
"Silly! Youre at my house!" She squealed.
"Uugh." I groaned.
"Whats wrong? You dont look too good. Your skin is really light except for on your cheeks. Its really red there. You look like youre blushing!" she giggled.
I put my hands on the ground and pushed. It took almost all of the strength I had left, just to get up.
"Youre serious, arent you?" Aimee got a little worried. "Ill go get my mommy." With that, she disappeared in the front door of her house.
I had only taken a few steps toward home when I realized, in horror, that I had my backpack with me! I turned around and grabbed my bookbag, and started the two-minute death march home.

Finally! I yelled in my mind. After fifteen agonizing minutes, I finally made it home.
"Ellette? Is that you?! Are you all right?! Where have you been?!" I looked up to see my mom bounding down the steps to greet me. She was a bit taller than I was, with the same black hair, but dark blue eyes.
She locked me in a tight hug before I could do anything. I could tell that she felt my fever when she pressed her cheek against mine. She jerked back, her hands still on my shoulders, her blue eyes wide. She slapped a hand onto my forehead, and immediately jerked it back.
"Ellette! Youre burning up! I suggest that you get to bed!"
No objections there. I thought. I slowly climbed up the stairs and into my room. The minute I had shut the door behind me, I kicked off my shoes, pulled down my hair, slipped off my glasses, and plopped down on the bed.

"Ellette. Ellette. Its time to get up." My moms voice was the first thing I heard as she gently shook me awake. "How do you feel?"
"I have a terrible headache, but, otherwise, fine. I still feel a bit weak though." I replied happily.
"Do you feel as if you could go to school today?" her eyebrows raised.
"I think I could probably survive." I said, playfully dramatic.
"Alright." She said hesitantly. "But, if you feel the least bit like you cant make it through the day, call me and Ill come pick you up."
"Thanks, mom." I smiled gratefully.
Jeannas POV
Jeanna, Jeanna!
Kin?
Get up! You need to get home!

"Huh?" I sat up, but then sank back to the ground as the world swirled before me. There were no shapes, no sizes anywhere-just swirls, turns.
I closed my eyes and waited for the nauseating feeling to pass. As soon as I could sit up straight, I did my best to stand up.
My limbs shook and protested with lack of strength, and my face burned with fever. I eventually stood up, but almost collapsed again when I stooped to pick up my backpack.
I lugged my backpack onto my shoulders and walked from my yard, into my house.
"Mom?" I called weakly. No answer. "Must not be home yet." No matter. Besides. If she saw me in this condition, she would be all over me.
I dragged myself to my rooom and plopped down on the bed. Sleep set in immediately.

RRRRRRIIIIIIINNNNNNNGGGGGG!!!!!
I slammed my fist down on my alarm clock. I groaned and pulled the blankets over my head- shielding my eyes from the sunlight pouring in the window.
"Jeanna! Get up!" Mom yelled harshly. "Ive called you ten times! UP!!"
The blankets were torn from me and the cold air sent shivers up my spine.
I slowly opened my eyes. My head throbbed painfully and I moaned.
"Are you alright? You dont look very good." My moms voice was saturated with worry.
"Yeah, Im fine." I lied. I didnt want to, but I certainly couldnt tell her what had happened.
"Alright. Come on. You need to leave soon." Her voice was softer than before.
"OK." I answered, dragging myself out of bed and over to my dresser.
