Over the years, residents from Oklahoma,Colorado,New Mexico and Texas have come to this beautiful setting to make up the cast. People from all walks of life: teachers, ministers, merchants, ranchers, nurses, farmers and young people, from pre-schoolers through collage students. Sometimes entire families are included in the cast. With the parents and grandparents in adult roles and the children in crowd scenes. Telling the story of the redemption in an acceptable manner is the purpose of these involved.
One woman describes the cast members as "disciples in cowboy boots." Another reporter said this may be the only Easter Pageant in the world where the crown of thorns is made of mesquite. The men take of their western hats and don "Roman" robes over their jeans and heavy jackets, but they won't exchange their boots for sandals for any reason.
Countless hours went into the writing and correcting of the scripts and putting the music and dialogue on tape and then on C.D.
Thousands of people have helped in many ways to make the pageant presentation successful. For weeks prior to Easter, cast members attend rehearsal in good and bad weather. Their only payment is a feeling of doing something toward promoting the message of Christ.
