This photo was taken toward the end of my tour up in the Phu Bai area. The battery was in convoy in route to a new firing position to support an operation. We had stopped for a reason I no longer remember, and I walked over to the water buffalo to refill my canteen. When I had finished and started to turn back, this young boy appeared, looking up at me. Suddenly, he hugged my leg. I had no idea where he had come from or what he wanted. He just looked up at me in a forlorn way, and I took his photograph.

In memory of LCpl Robert Guy Brown, KIA on Operation Texas on March 21, 1966. LCpl Brown had been the acting artillery FO for Echo Company, 2d Battalion, 4th Marines. He had just turned 19.  Semper Fi.
