It did a lot raining while we were on Operation Double Eagle. The rain had stopped briefly here and we were resting after a long morning on patrol in the mountains.

That's Major Sam Adams, the S-3 (Operations Officer) for 2/4. The senior commissioned and noncommissioned officers of 2/4 had all been in combat before. I never knew if they were afraid, though I'm certain they must have been. Sam Adams was a "mustang," commissioned from the ranks. As bad as it ever got, when Sam was there, chewing his cigar, you somehow felt it was going to be all right.

In memory of LCpl Robert Guy Brown, KIA on Operation Texas on March 21, 1966. LCpl Brown had been the acting artillery FO for Echo Company, 2d Battalion, 4th Marines. He had just turned 19.  Semper Fi.
