Road Trip

The following pages contain pictures of everyday sights from around the island. At the time we were stationed there, we really didn't take the time to take pictures of many of these sights ourselves. Therefore, I had to borrow these from a different site.

Apartments

As the caption on the photo says, this is typical apartment housing on Okinawa. On top of the building you will find a water tank. This tank is filled with (hopefully) potable water in case the dry season ends up too dry. OUCH! Water rationing!

Driving Ranges

The Okinawans, like their counterparts on the mainland, love golf. Of course, they have to practice their swing somewhere. The fenced/netted in area above is a golf driving range. You can find driving ranges like this all around the island. They are normally open 24 hours a day.

Cruisin'

This is taken heading north on Hiway 58. The van in the foreground is fairly commonly seen. However, the van in front is the more typical style. Note the freshly waxed paint on the van up front. NOT! You have to look really hard for traces of the most recent wax job. Of course, we do drive on the left side of the road there.
