Engine 6069

(I was hoping this dream
would never end)

It was only last night
What a beautiful sight
In my dream of a passenger train
Speeding thru the night
With the headlight on bright
I was hoping this dream would never end

I could see in the light
As she sped out of sight
It was Engine Sixty-Sixty-Nine
Painted green and gold
With a tender full of coal
And I knew that this train would be on time

The old engineer
Blew his whistle loud and clear
As he passed he waved his hand at me
For this was the last
Of the steam engine class
And the end of the steamer's career

She was sold for scrap
But the people bought her back
For ev'rybody to see
You can see her today
Down at Sarnia Bay
For the mem'ries of the steam engine days

It was only last night
What a beautiful sight
In my dream of a passenger train
Speeding thru the night
With the headlight on bright
I was hoping this dream would never end

Painted green and gold
With a tender full of coal
For the mem'ries of the steam engine days
For the mem'ries of the steam engine days
