There Goes
My Life
(Wendell Mobley/Neil Thrasher)
All he could think about was I'm too young for this
Got my whole life ahead
hell I'm just a kid myself
how I'm gonna raise one
All he could see were his dreams going up in smoke
So much for ditching this town and hanging out on the coast
Oh well, those plans are long gone
And he said
there goes my life
there goes my future, my everything
might as well kiss it all good-bye
there goes my life.......
A couple years of up all night and a few thousand diapers later
That mistake he thought he made covers up the refrigerator
Oh yeah..........he loves that little girl.
Momma's waiting to tuck her in
as she fumbles up those stairs
she smiles back at him dragging that teddy bear
sleep tight, blue eyes and bouncing curls
He smiles
there goes my life
there goes my future my everything
I love you, daddy goodnight
there goes my life
She had that Honda loaded down
with Abercrombie clothes and 15 pairs of shoes and his American express
he checked the oil and slammed the hood, said your good to go
she hugged them both and headed off to the west coast
And he cried
there goes my life
there goes my future, my everything
I love you
baby good-bye

I Go Back
(Kenny Chesney)
Jack and Diane painted a
picture of my life and my dreams
suddenly this crazy world made more sense to me
well I heard it today and I couldnt help but sing along
cuz everytime I hear that song
and I go back to a two tone short bed chevy
drivin my first love out to the levy
livin life with no sense of time
and I go back to the 50 yd line
a blanket, a girl and some raspberry wine
wishin time would stop right in its tracks
everytime I hear that song
I go back
I go back
Well I used to rock all night long
to keep on rockin me baby
a frat party, college bars just to impress the ladies
well I heard it today and couldnt help but sing along
cuz everytime I hear that song
I go back to the smell of an old gym floor
the taste of salt on a caroline shore
after graduation to drinkin goodbye to friends
and I go back to watchin Summer fade to Fall
growin up too fast and I do recall
wishin time would stop right in its tracks
Everytime I hear that song
I go back
I go back
We all have a song that somehow stamped our lives
it takes us to another place and time
So I go back to a pew, a preacher and a choir
singing bout God, brimestone and fire
and the smell of Sunday chicken after church
and I go back to the lost of a real good friend
and the sixteen summers I shared with him
now only the good die young stops me in my tracks
and everytime I hear that song
I go back
I go back
to the field of a 50yd line, a blanket, a girl and some raspberry wine
I go back
I go back
to watchin Summer fade to Fall
growin up too soon and I do recall
I go back
I go back
to the lost of a real good friend
and the sixteen summers I shared with him
I go back
I go back
I go back

When
The Sun Goes Down
(Brett James)
Suntaned toes ticklin the
sand
cold drink chillin in my right hand
watchin you sleep in the evenin light
restin up for a long, long night
cuz when the sun goes down
we'll be groovin
when the sun goes down
we'll be feelin alright
when the sun sinks down
over the water
everything gets hotter when the sun goes down
Yeah
all day long just takin it easy
layin in a hammock where it's nice and breezy
and sleepin off the night before
cuz when the sun goes down we'll be back for more
when the sun goes down
we'll be groovin
when the sun goes down we'll be feelin alright
when the sun sinks down
over the water
everything gets hotter when the sun goes down
this old guitar and my dark sunglasses
this sweet concoction is smooth as molasses
nothing to do but breathe all day
until the big moon rises and it's time to play
when the sun goes down
we'll be groovin
when the sun goes down we'll be feelin alright
when the sun sinks down
over the water
everything gets hotter
when the sun goes down
when the sun goes down
when the sun goes down
we'll be groovin
when the sun goes down
we'll be feelin alright
when the sun sinks down
over the water
everything gets hotter
when the sun goes down
Yeah
When the sun goes down
we'll be groovin
when the sun goes down we'll be feelin alright
when the sun sinks down
over the water
everything gets hotter
when the sun goes down
when the sun goes down
we'll be groovin
when the sun goes down we'll be feelin alright
when the sun sinks down
over the water
she thinks Kracker's sexy
when the sun goes down
we'll be feelin alright
when the sun sinks down
over the water
Uncle Kenny's hotter
when the sun goes down
when the sun goes down
we'll be groovin
when the sun goes down
hey Uncle Kenny
when the sun goes down
over the water
everything is hotter
when the sun goes down

The
Woman With You
(Craig Wiseman/David Frasier)
She hit the door at 6:55
a sack full of groceries split down the side
canned goods scattered all the way to the curb
the look on her face sayin dont say a word
so it's me and her and a can of beans
sittin there on the front porch swing
a Western sky all turnin red
head on my shoulder she sighed and said
I've been gopher and chauiffer and company chairman
coffeemaker, a copy repairman
anymore there aint nothin I swear man
that I dont do
been jugglin, strugglin closin big deals
dancin backwards in high heels
just when it feels like I cant make it through
she said it sure is nice
just to be the woman with you
She said the girl I was with the business degree
probably wouldnt recognize me
I was going to run the bank
I was going to run the map
now all I wanna run is the bubble bath
back then ya know I had this plan
before all of this reality set in
hear comes life boy ready or not
hey I wanted it all and thats what I got
Because Im a gopher and a chauiffer and a company chairman
coffemaker, copy repairman
anymore there aint nothin I swear man
that I dont do
been jugglin, strugglin closin big deals
dancin backwards in high heels
just when it feels like I cant make it through
she said it sure is nice
just to be the woman with you
she said a gopher and a chauffeur and a company chairman
coffeemaker, copy repairman
anymore there aint nothin I swear man
that I dont do
I been jugglin, strugglin closin big deals
dancin backwards in high heels
just when it feels like I cant make it through
she said it sure is nice
to just to be the woman

Some
People Change
(Michael Dulaney/Jason
Sellers/Neil Thrasher)
This old man was a rebel
yeller
bad boy to the bone
he'd say
cant trust a colored fellar
he'd judge em by the tone of their skin
he was raised to think like his dad
narrow minded full of hate
on the road to nowhere faced
til the grace of God got in the way
and he saw the light and hit his knees and he cried and said a prayer
and rose up a brand new man
and left the old one right there
here's to the strong
thanks to the brave
dont give up hope
some people change
against all odds
against the grain
love finds a way
some people change
she was born with her mother's habit
guess you could say it's in her blood
she hates it that she's gotta have it
she fills her glass up
and she learned to kill that bottle
and all she could think about was
about a life a second chance
and everyone she's lettin down
she throws that bottle down
here's to the strong
thanks to the brave
dont give up hope
some people change
against all odds
against the grain
love finds a way
some people change
thank God for those who make it
let them be the light
some people change
here's to the strong
thanks to the brave
dont give up hope
some people change
against all odds
against the grain
love finds a way
some people change
Yeah
some people change
some people change

Anything
But Mine
(Scooter Carusoe)
walkin alone beneath the
lights
of that miracle mile
me and mary makin our way into the night
you can hear the cries from the carnival rides
the pinball bells and skeeball slides
watchin the summer sun fall out of sight
there's a warm wind comin in
off of the ocean makin its way past the hotel walls
to fill the street
mary is holdin both of her shoes in her hands
said she likes to feel the sand beneath her feet
and in the mornin Im leavin
makin my way back to Cleveland
so tonight I hope I will do just fine
and I dont see how you could ever be
anything but mine
there's a local band playin
at the seaside pavillion
and I got just enough cash to get us in
and as we are dancin
mary's wrappin her arms around me
and I can feel the steam of summer on my skin
in the midst of the music
I tell her I love her
and we both laugh cuz we know it isnt true
ahh but mary there's a summer drawin to and in tonight
and there's so much that I long to do with you
but in the mornin Im leavin
makin my way back to Cleveland
so tonight I hope that I will do just fine
and I dont see how you could ever be
anything but mine
and in the mornin Im leavin
makin my way back to Cleveland
so tonight I hope that I will do just fine
and I dont see how you could ever be
anything but mine
mary I dont see how you could ever be

Keg
In The Closet
(Kenny Chesney/Brett James)
we had a dog named bocephus
livin in the front yard
he liked sleeping out on top of the car
he drank beer out of a mason jar
and he'd climb up on everyone in bed
a white framed house in a college town
a bunch of people always hangin around
no real problems we needed to drowned
but we tried our best anyway
we went to class just to pass the time
back in '89
we had a keg in the closet
pizza on the floor
let over from the night before
where we were goin
we didnt really care
we had all we ever wanted
in that keg in the closet
this old guitar taught me how to score
right there on the lamda ki porch
mary ann taught me a little more
about want what you cant have
sweatshirts and flag football
spring breaks down in Panama
for a while we had it all
we never dreamed it wouldnt last
we went to class just to pass the time
back in '89
we had a keg in the closet
pizza on the floor
left over from the night before
where we were goin
we didnt really care
we had all we ever wanted
in that keg in the closet
we all kind of went our separate ways
but I swear it seems like yesterday
keg in the closet
pizza on the floor
left over from the night before
where we were goin
we didnt really care
we had all we ever wanted
in that keg in the closet

When
I Think About Leaving
(Tim Johnson/Rory Lee/Paul
Overstreet)
You know sometimes
me and my lady have these crazy thoughts
and when we do it makes me wonder
if we're ever going to get it right
when I think about leaving
I think about me
what my life would be like
if I were back to being free
where I wanna go
what I wanna be
I wouldnt have a soul
I'd have to answer to
when I think about leaving
I think about me
you know I gotta friend
he and his wife just couldnt see eye to eye
he had all he could stand one day
and just packed up and said goodbye
when I think about leaving
I think about him
that little apartment across town
he's livin in
got an old corvette
got a new girlfriend
but he only sees his kids
every other weekend
when I think about leaving
oh I think about him
I never will forget her face
on the day she told me about her dad
how he walked out on her and her mom
when she was just a kid
when I think about leaving
oh I think about her
only 5 years old
and her heart filled up with hurt
with her little arms wrapped around his neck
saying daddy where ya goin
are ya comin back
when I think about leaving
oh I think about her
you know the truth is
most of the times things are really great
and I know we got something special
when I think about leaving
I think about us
how we built this love we share
on faith and trust
the honest way we talk
the tender way we touch
all those nights
we spent makin love
when I think about leaving
oh I think about us
when I think about leaving
oh I think again
even though that thought
crosses my mind every now and then
in my heart I know I would never leave
cuz no where else on earth
that I would rather be
when I think about leaving
I think again
when I think about leaving
when I think about leaving
when I think about leaving
I think again

Being
Drunk's A Lot Like Loving You
(Kenny Chesney,Skip Ewing)
well I drank till I
stummbled
I drank til I fell
when the drunk part was of
it hurt me like hell
I know about drinkin
so I know one thing's true
being drunk's a lot like loving you
cuz I loved til I stummbled
I loved til I fell
when the lovin was over
it hurt me like hell
and I know what a taste
of the wrong love can do
being drunk's a lot like loving you
and I've woke up some mornings
and sworn off the drinking
at that Ive done resonably
well I think
but I havent done well
swearing off you and me
at that I've failed miserably
well I've felt the hangover
of loving all night
I've sat at the bar
all alone in a fight
I've bottled up feelings
and poured em out too
being drunk's a lot like loving you
and I've woke up some mornings
and sworn off the drinking
at that Ive done resonably
well I think
but I havent done well
swearing off you and me
at that I've failed miserably
well I drank til I stummbled
I loved til I fell
when the drunk part was over
love hurt me like hell
I know about drinkin
so I know one thing's true
being drunk's a lot like loving you
oh I know what a taste
of the wrong love can do
sometimes I still get drunk
loving you

Outta
Here
(Josh Leo)
let's leave town
on a permanent vacation
lock up the house
pack up the station wagon
make paradise our final destination
as long as we're outta here
there aint no time
like the present day sail
cruise all the way
down A1A
put the top down
and catch a few rays
baby we'll be outta here
anywhere you want to go
as long as its sunny weather
let the time fly by
I dont mind
as long as we're together
south of the border
there's a place I know where
James Taylor sang about Mexico
and the sun so hot
we'll forget to go home
baby we'll be outta here
anywhere you want to go
as long as it's sunny weather
let the time fly by
I dont mind
as long as we're together
drive to the country
down to the lakes
see if the catfish are jumpin
set our bait
and if we come up dry
we'll just sleep in late
at least we'll be outta here
as long as we're outta here
baby let's get outta here
outta here
come on baby
let's get outta here
cruise down A1A
go hang out in Key West
for a little while

Old
Blue Chair
(Kenny Chesney)
there's a blue rocking chair
sittin in the sand
weathered by the storms
and well oiled hands
it sways back and forth
with the help of the winds
it seems to always be there
like an old trusted friend
I've read a lot of books
wrote a few songs
looked at my life
where it's going
where it's gone
I've seen the world
through a bus windshield
but nothing compares
to the way that I see it
to the way that I see it
to the way that I see it
when I sit
in that old blue chair
from the chair I caught
a few fish and some rays
and Ive watched boats sail
in and out of cinammon bay
I let go of a lover
that took a piece of my heart
prayed many times for forgiveness
and a brand new start
I've read a lot of books
wrote a few songs
looked at my life
where its going
where its gone
I've seen the world
through a bus windshield
but nothing compares
to the way that I see it
to the way that I see it
to the way that I see it
when I sit
in that old blue chair
that chair was my bed
one new years night
when I passed out
from too much Malibu and diet
and I woke up to 100 mosquito bites
and I swear
I got em all sittin right there
in that old blue chair
there's a blue rocking chair
sittin in the sand
weathered by the storms
and well oiled hands

Live Those
Songs
(David Lowe,Cole Degges,Chris Bain)
Saw him sitting on a sidewalk in Fresno
Braided hair and a tie dyed tee-shirt on
Talking to himself about Vietnam
About the tour he did and the deal he got
Said this world ain't the same if you ask me
If I could be somewhere else I'll tell ya where I'd be
I'd be rolling on the river with creedence
Stealing kisses from Peggy Sue
I'd be knee deep in the sand on Panama Beach
In the spring of 72
I'd be wasting away on the dock of the bay
Watching the tide roll in
He said What I wouldn't give just to live those songs again
Saw him working the counter at Walgreen's
With a new haircut and a bachelors degree
Talking to himself about his raw deal
Cussing Uncle Sam and his GI BILL
Said this world ain't the same if you ask me
If I could be somewhere else I'll tell ya where I'd be
I'd be rolling on the river with creedence
Stealing kisses from Peggy Sue
I'd be knee deep in the sand on Panama Beach
In the spring of 72
I'd be wasting away on the dock of the bay
Watching the tide roll in
He said what I wouldn't give to live those songs again
Said this world ain't the same if you ask me
He said if you ask me I'll tell you where I'd be
I'd be rolling on the river with creedence
Stealing kisses from Peggy Sue
I'd be knee deep in the sand on Panama Beach
In the spring of 72
I'd be wasting away on the dock of the bay
Watching the tide roll in
He said what I wouldn't give to live those songs again
Oh again

What I Need
To Do
(Bill Luther/Tom Damphier)
I keep tellin myself this is the right thing to do
I was wastin her time, waitin on dreams that just weren't comin true
And this old highway seems to understand
Leadin me on to somewhere that no one knows my name
I got the window rolled down, I got the radio up
I'm doin all that I can to get my mind off us
What I need to do is turn this car around
Drive as fast as I can til I see the lights of our hometown
And run to her, take her in my arms
Make her see how sorry I am, well that shouldn't be so hard
But I drive on, and on, and on
Eighty-seven more miles gets me into Baton Rogue
There's a buddy of mine who says he might find some work that I can do
Or maybe head up north to Knoxville, Tennessee
I know my baby sister, has got a couch where I can sleep
Now the sun's goin down on my broken heart
Lord, I gotta go bak before I get too far
What I need to do is turn this car around
Drive as fast as I can til I see the lights of our hometown
And run to her, take her in my arms
Make her see how sorry I am, well that shouldn't be so hard
But I drive on, and on, and on
But I drive on
Yes I drive on, and on, and on
Knowin what I need to do
Girl, I'm comin home to you
