Baby News 07/19/1999 - Well David is now 7 weeks old. Just now catching my breath enough to update this page. Both mother and baby are doing quite well. Check back soon for some photos of little DOH! Pregnancy News Check out the Photo of Abbi and Wendy's Dave Thomas!05/25/1999 - Abbi went to her, now weekly, appointment with her Doctor, Yesterday. She is dilated 2 cm and 20% effaced (-: whatever the heck that means :-) The baby is slowly lightening (dropping, engaging, etc.). Not quickly enough for Abbi as she still is having problems breathing. We are only 8 days away from the due date! 05/20/1999 - Since I have been a bad Daddy and not updated this page in over 2 months (blame Star Wars and a heavier workload) I will now try to recap things that have happened in the last 2 months: Abbi's Grandmother found us a great used crib (for free). Abbi is quite uncomfortable as of late. Reflux, hip and backaches, trouble breathing...she looks like the snake that ate the basketball. The baby's room is mostly finished. We painted it a faux glazed blue (it looks like a sky with wispy white clouds) and the room has a cute Noah's Ark theme. We have all the furniture we need ( I spent hours putting together an Armoire that we got from Target). Abbi had 2 baby showers. One was a surprise one that her co-workers threw for her and the other was a church and family one that our good friend Margaret threw for her. We went through 6 weeks of Childbirth Education class and one night of a Breastfeeding class. And now? Now we wait. The waiting is hard for me. Every other major event in life has had a planned date attached to it. Getting married? You pick a date. Buying a house? You choose a signing date. Quitting a job? Starting a new job? You know the date. Only birth and death don't have dates that we know about ahead of time (and death I don't want to know!). So we must wait. It is truly humbling. 03/04/99 - Well the third Trimester is closing in on us. So much to do and so little time. Abbi is feeling more and more uncomfortable every day. It seems like there is less room inside and more baby. Abbi had to drink a bottle of a glucose-laden drink at her last Doctor's appointment. You'd think she was drinking vodka or something by the way she reacted. The Glucola as it's called is used to test the baby for diabetes. We should have the results by her next Doctor's appointment if all is well. 01/26/1999 - Well Abbi's nesting instinct has kicked in and we are buying strollers and car seats and looking at cribs. I must admit I am having a lot of fun with this too. We will soon be moving the office furniture out of the (soon to be) baby room and moving it into the back bedroom. "David" is moving around like a wild-man and I've felt him kick and punch a few times. 01/13/1999 - Abbi is 20 weeks pregnant with "David". That's the halfway mark (for those of you who have never been through this). I'm really getting excited and into shopping for baby supplies. 01/06/1999 - Abbi is 19 weeks pregnant. Morning Sickness is gone for good and Abbi is starting to "show". Her only complaints are that her skin is drying out and the occasional bout of acid reflux. This must be the calm before the Storm ; - ) 01/05/1999 - Abbi had her Sonogram/Ultrasound, Yesterday and we found out (with 99.9% accuracy) that we will The Doctor said that the baby looked healthy and that by the measurements she took that the due date should not change. 12/28/98- Abbi has been feeling the baby move around for a little while now. Lately, however, she has felt it kicking and such. Last night I felt it "kick". Wow! Abbi is almost 18 weeks pregnant. 12/04/98 - Abbi had her second Doctors appointment. No major updates. Everything is going OK. 12/02/98 - Abbi enters her Second Trimester of pregnancy. The Morning Sickness is supposed to be waning but she is still feeling pretty bad. 11/06/98 - We heard Baby Humphlett's Heartbeat for the First Time |
