Welcome to my website
Research has shown that the name BRODDLE appears to be derived from BRODWELL. This name has been traced back to 1560 in the United Kingdom. Over the years the spelling of the name has changed. The probable cause for this can be attributed to two things; the pronunciation and the inability in times past of many people to be able to read and write. The name has taken many forms, the most common being BRODDEL; BRODDELL; BRODEL; BRODLE and BRODAL. Even to this day these variations continue. The research into the family name sets out to try and establish the relationships that exist, irrespective of the way the name is spelled.
The name BRODDLE was carried to the United States in about 1858, and there are now family members both there and in Canada and South Africa.
