Sun Moon Lake:
Sun Moon Lake is the largest lake in Taiwan, and is located in the foot hills just west of the central mountain range.
The lake is on the main tourist circuit, and it can get overrun with tour buses. However, the area around the lake is fairly spread out, so it seems to be able to absorb quite a few people without feeling too over crowed.
There is lots to do around here: There are tour boats, hiking trails, temples, and aboriginal tourist shows. For the best view of the lake, hike up to Tsen Pagoda and climb up to the top of this eight story structure for a panoramic view of lake and the surrounding area.
But, in my opinion, it is best to find an isolated part of the shoreline and just lounge out and enjoy the scenery... |
