Southern Taiwan
Once you get away from the unbearable smog of Kaohsiung, Tainan, and Chia-yi, you can find many great places to go in Southern Taiwan.
Aboriginal areas like Santimen and Maolin/Tona are up in the mountains and are both beautiful places that are within easy driving distance from Kaohsiung.
Kenting National Park is on the southern tip of the island and is, by far, the best beach resort on the island.
And if you really want adventure, try the South Cross Island Highway, which in the opinion of this writer, is scariest and most scenic road on the island. (No easy feat as there is much competition in these categories...) |
