| Northern Taiwan |
| Northern Taiwan Despite being so close to the noise, traffic, and pollution of Taipei and Keelung, Northern Taiwan has many things to offer. The north coast of Taiwan has some stunning scenery, which includes the unique sandstone formations at Yehliu and many areas along Coastal Highway 2 from Keelung to Ilan. Taipingshan is a beautiful mountain resort with hot springs and great scenery. Other places in the north that are worth visiting include the following: Chiaoshi Hot springs (Near Ilan), Tamshui (Old port near Taipei), Kuantu Temple, Yangminshan Park (North of Taipei), and Chuifen (An old gold mining town East of Keelung). Note: It is best to visit these places either out of season or during the middle of the week, since most places close to Taipei are crowded on the weekends. |
