Lungchwen Waterfall
Lungchwen Waterfall

With a name like Lungchwen Waterfall, (or "Dragon's Spring" in English), you would expect to find a powerful waterfall here.  However this waterfall is actually rather modest.  It is a small cascade of water that is about 25 feet in height.

This place is definitely not on the normal tourist circuit.  Both the access road and the
path to the waterfall are slowly being reclaimed by the jungle.   I saw nary a soul here, which was quite a contrast from Wufengchi Waterfalls at Chiaohsi.  If you do decide to come here, be sure to bring your Machete to help hack your way through to the falls.

Sometimes when you forage off the main routes in Taiwan, you can find some special things.  However, the trip to Lungchwen was not one of those times.  Unless you are interested in seeing every waterfall in Taiwan, you have my permission to skip this one...

Directions:   Take the branch of Route 7 from Lotung toward Taipingshan.  Turn left at Sanshing on Chungshan Road, and follow this road out of town.  Turn left just past the bridge that crosses a stream.  Follow signs for another kilometer or so.  This narrow road will dead end into the  the parking lot for this waterfall.
