| Erdzshan Hot Springs BRHAHAHAHAHA... This is why I work so hard.... This is the best natural hot spring that I have been to in Taiwan so far. More like a hot river than just a spring. There are several large pools along the hot spring stream where you can soak your troubles away. And you will need it after the harrowing drive to get here. The "road" is just a worn path along the riverbed. You will have to plow through the stream a few times and also pass over two creaking "bridges" which consist of discarded box beam sections thrown across the river. (If the weather is poor, I'd think twice before heading here...) I cannot recommend this place highly enough. I may go back and downgrade all other hot spring locations by one star after visiting Erdzshan. |
| Directions: Exit Huatong Valley Highway (Route 9) at around mile marker 244 at Shilin. Follow this road for several kilometers past the town until it dead ends at a police station. After getting clearance at the police station, continue through the gate along the stone path. The path will follow the river up to the hot springs. (40 minutes by car, or 3 hours walking) Make sure you have a 4WD drive car or you probably won't make it. |
