Sixteen Stones Mountain
When the flowers are bloomng at Sixteen Stones Mountain (Shr-Ryo-Shr-Shan), the hills glow with the orange color of the blooms of the Jin-zhen flower. Not sure exactly what this flower translates to in English, but the literal translation is "Golden Needle".
These flowers are in bloom around August and September. The area around Sixteen Stones Mountain is slowly transforming from an aboriginal farming area into a tourist stop, with hostels and hiking trails and pavilions starting to spring up.
The altitude makes the weather a little cooler up here, and the blooming flowers against the mountain background make for some good photo opportunities. If you can avoid the traffic on the mountain roads during the bloom season, this is not a bad place to spend a summer's day. |
