The history behind The Pole is that it is aptly named so. A long time ago, the meeting place for drones after work was, in fact, a pole. Since then, it has moved further and further back due to legal and convience reasons. As of now, there is no real pole but the name is still kept. If it had to change names, a good name for it would be 'The weird intersection in front of the convience store and work site where all the Jap kids hand out flyers for karaoke places'. But for old times sakes, it is still called The Pole. There are other stories of other branches meeting at places named like The Kiosk. Why? Because, it was a fucking kiosk, thats why. I have also heard stories of people telling other people that they were going to The Pole/Kiosk/whatever and the poor, unknowningst people would dress up for clubbing to find themselves drinking in the street. Sounds like a good trick to play to me.

The beauty of Japan is that you can drink on the street. Also, buying a 500ml can of 6% alc beer will only set you back about a dollar fiddy. Where else can you do this and see drunken salarymen walk the streets and the general public in their natural habitat?
