| Kens 93 SeaRay SeaRayder Jet Boat |
| I also own the above mentioned boat. It is a great boat but the motor has always given me problems. |
| The motor is a 90 HP Mecury Sport Jet. It is actually a Force powerhead with Mercury Ignition. These ignitions are know to have big problems. The stators from the factory (called "black" stators) had a lot of failures, so they changed to a new "Red" stator (yes it is the color red). This helped some, but still the red stators are not failureproof. One other big problem is the ignition boxes. I have had two fail on my boat. | Below are pictures of what is inside the ignition box. I hacked the cover off, then had to chip away at the potting material to expose all of the components. It looks like a collection of diodes, resistors, 3 small SCRs, 3 large SCRs, three transistors, and one large capacitor. Problem with taking off the potting material is that many components were damaged. I will tinker with this as time permits. |
