IRONCHEF

I am the worlds biggest ironchef fan! I created this page in order to share with me fellow ironchef fanatics or to educate those who are not familiar with the greatest show ever!

Ironchef is a Japanese cooking show that started in 1993 as a Sunday night space filler. It combined the ostentatiousness (not a real word) of pro wrestling with the true creativity of the best Japanese, French, Italian, and Chinese chefs. The host, Takeshi Kaga, organizes battles between the ironchefs and challengers from around the world. Then he gives them each a secret ingredient and i hour to use it to make thier dishes. There is even commentators and a "sideline" reporter to help move the action along. After one hour, the cooking is stopped and the chefs cretions are tasted by four judges. The winner is the one with the best looking and tasting dishes.

The show became so popular that the gave it a prime-time spot at 10:00 on Fridays. It was naminated for two Emmys. Sadly, it stopped new episodes In 1999. Now they show it every Friday night on Food Network at 10:00 EST and Saturdays at 10:00EST and on Sundays at 7:00EST. The episodes on Saturdays are a 22 day delay from the Friday episodes and the Sunday episodes are on a three monthe delay from the Friday episodes. There are, however, occasional NEW specials that air but only rarely.

Guess what fools? I got the official Iron Chef book. Any dedicated fan needs one. I am learning a lot i didn't know. Its got stats, bios, and behind the scenes stuff. I definitly recomend it. Enjoy!
