the works...

thrown into a tailspin, being unaccustomed as I am to having to dress earlier in order to facilitate the tedious task of pressing my own clothes. To this added chore I say "Bah! Humbug!"
And I know that there are people that honestly believe all the propaganda our treacherous government has been circulating, "Oh, it's not good for you" they say. "It harms the body" they say. "It disrupts your ability to learn" they say…"Utter shiretrit" I say. What better way is there to revitalize and rejuvenate a  fatigued and debilitated body, than an hour's ride in an energetic maxi?…
NONE I say. Let me at least bear what I believe is my duty, and dispel your fears about loud music for the little good that it will do you now. By far the most widely misleading 'statistic' and the only one I have space to write about, is the effect of sound on the heart and the nervous system. Let me at once say, it is not really unsettling to have your heart thrust into your throat by tumultuous tones. And besides, you get accustomed to it there; either that or you swallow it when you take a hairpin corner at 80km/h, or you spit it out because it isn't beating in time with the music. All the other stuff that you've heard is just as misleading as this one, and if statisticians had given the facts in an unbiased way, we would still have our friendly health units on the streets.
My only comfort is that we live in a democratic country and as far as I know, the law doesn't encompass the big blue PTSC buses. Can you imagine how many foot-long speakers and young-fridge speaker-boxes one of those babies could carry?? All I have to do is get the Public Service Transport people to hire me, and that shouldn't be too hard because the crowd cum revenues that my bus will pull in as soon as I install the music, video and television, will be phenomenal.
So, if you're reading this Mr. H. Ardhead, look out for a PTSC bus driver with shades and a low haircut. I'll be driving the blue bus with the silver tinted windows.
