OUR STORY
How They Met:
A mutual friend Jay (best man) introduced them back in May 2000. Kendra had just come out of a relationship and Jay was taking her out to their favourite bar in Fredericton, New Brunswick (Sweetwaters) to cheer her up.
Josh was home on Easter leave and Jay invited him out so they could hang. Josh and Kendra spent pretty much every night that week hanging out together and then started a long distance relationship when Josh returned to Kingston, Ontario to continue his training.
The Proposal:
On May 3, 2003 Josh surprised Kendra with a trip to Lunenburg, Nova Scotia to celebrate three years together. He rented the honeymoon suite at a beautiful, old B&B (Arbour View Inn). The room had a four poster bed and a hot tub. As Kendra hugged him, thanking him for the trip he set her up on the bed and got down on one knee to ask.
Over a month earlier Josh had stopped by Kendra's father's house on his way back from a course in Ontario to ask his permission. The funny part was that because of the detour Josh got storm stayed in Moncton that night, greatly upsetting the clueless Kendra. Two weeks later poor Al and Kathy had to work hard not to blow the cover while the couple was home for Easter celebrations and discussing Kathy's son's wedding plans. They did a great job and Kendra had no idea!
About the Bride:
Kendra has a Master's Degree in Journalism but only gets to really use her skills by proofreading a lot at work in her job as a Document Control Officer with the Department of National Defence. She edits graphics and maintains student material for a Sea King training squadron.
About the Groom:
Josh is working as an Aerospace Telecommunications and Information Systems (ATIS) Tech at 12 Wing Shearwater. Currently his job entails installing radios in vehicles, and setting up PA systems amongst other things. He spent six months last year in Bosnia, which he enjoyed as a learning experience. He loved helping with base sports and especially bringing hockey to the kids there.
