Members of the Band

Jamil Sherif

Jamil Sherif

Jamil joined the Kelly Wright Band in 2003, and plays guitar, mandolin, flute, harmonica and drums.

Jamil is originally from Tanzania, home of the beautiful Mount Kilimanjaro, and a mecca for tourists. It was in this setting that his musical career began. Playing drums, for him, was as natural as breathing, and by the age of eight he was a tourist attraction himself, playing throughout the area (The Safari Hotel, The Nairobi Hilton, The Kilimanjaro, The Arusha and The Treetops Hotel and Serena Beach in Mombassa).

Jamil has travelled extensively in Canada and loves the country and its people. He credits his Canadian audiences with helping him to develop his considerable repertoire as he responded to their requests. He is now a Canadian citizen who makes his home in London, Ontario.

Mike Houle

Mike Houle

Born in Chatham, Ontario, Micheal is a bass player extraordinaire who can play both string instruments as well as singing back up and some lead vocals.

Mike started playing at age 5 and began performing on stage at the tender age of 14. He has made his way across Canada with several bands including Mount Zion, Tomb Stone, and the Highway Free Band. In 1991 Micheal decided to settle in London, Ontario to further his college education at the Ontario Institute of Audio Recording Technology, where he gained a degree in Engineering and Producing.

In the last 5 years Micheal has become a precision sound engineer and musician who can be found one weekend running monitors for people like B.B. King, Colin James, Eric Burden and the New Animals, Garth Hudson or Ray Charles, and then the next weekend he’s playing bass and six string with people like Doug Innis, ‘Stoney’ of Mother Load, Wayne Allen, and Poor Boy or any other band in need of help in the strings department in any local club across Ontario. Micheal has recently set his main focus on a solid future with the Kelly Wright Band as Bassist and Technical Advisor.
