These 2 factors have created a demand for high speed, high capacity, 1394 enabled storage devices. There are storage media devices on the market that could address the 1394 requirements. These devices tend to have IDE interfaces so currently cannot address the 1394 market. How to get into IEEE 1394A simple, cost effective route into the 1394 market is to add a bridge device between the traditional IDE interface used by storage peripherals, and the 1394 bus. This bridge solution also has advantages while 1394 is ramping up its market penetration.
