I've added a special soundbite for your listening pleasure today. Go ahead, turn up your speakers and reload the page. I'll wait.

We got sent home from work early. Before everyone starts the chorus of "what a great birthday present," we were sent home because it was snowing all morning and is still 800 below outside. I hate cold. At least, I'm on the couch in my pajamas at 2:30 in the afternoon. On a Wednesday. That's also my Birthday!

The festivities have been going on for a while now, thanks in no small part to Serendipity. She's been fantastic. She's been more of a friend than I probably deserve. I'm going to have to start planning her birthday now, to top all this. At least I have until December to come up with something good.

Last night, I had dinner with the ZenMike and TMac. It was a pre-birthday dinner, and I had to go over to learn the rundown on taking care of their kittenheads while they're gone on a cruise next week. No, don't worry about me and the kitties, left in Dallas. Alone. In the cold.

Anyway, after several bottles of wine, I made the mistake of mentioning canasta, which is my favorite card game. TMac and her other friend Kelly, who was there, both know how to play. So we taught ZenMike as best we could. I had the worst hand ever. And I finally had to wrest myself away, so I could get something resembling sleep. I was under the impression, at the time, that I would need to spend all day at the office.

We're going to have to establish which canasta rules we're going to use. We kept debating it while trying to teach ZenMike. If he hates us and never wants to play with us again, I think I would understand.

Ok, it's time for the birthday nap. More later. Or not.
