This is my fourth year on the Gemini Blue Team, and I am looking forward to all the exciting activities that we do during the year--projects, fieldtrips, Camp Bournedale, the Olympics, and of course, the family Red Sox game in the spring. I hope you will enjoy these activities as much as I do.
Organizational skills are a primary focus in grade 7. Get off to a good start--get materials organized, keep homework assignments in an agenda book, do your homework each night, and manage your time wisely. Parents, a homework agenda is checked daily for all students on the team to ensure that the assignment is written down accurately and legibly. Your help is needed--Does your child have a good place to do their work? Is your child putting in the time necessary to do a good job? If your child has a problem completing an assignment after a reasonable amount of time and effort (20-30 minutes), please sign the assignment, jot a quick note to us, and we will reteach or explain what your child didn't understand.
This year we will continue the implementation of the new individualized educational plan format and the determination of eligibility under the new regulations. This will not affect your child's services while on the grade 7 team, but the meetings and paperwork continue to be different. The Department of Education has more information.
