I finished watching the greatest 100 songs of the 90s - as per VH1 - somewhere during the last week of Dec 07. Luckily I have DVR, so could "save" the program and view it later ; not just that I can fast-forward during the ads as well. Nice hugh ! As per VH1 the songs were selected by the viewers themselves. I did not vote, but that does not stop me from providing a commmentary on it does it ?
Shockingly Bon Jovi did not appear anywhere on the countdown. And for Asian fans, another shocker - no MLTR. What no MLTR ? No "Sleeping Child" no "Thats why.." no "Actor" no "25 minutes" - all of these are potential top 100 songs ! Well, the viewers were American so can we Asians really complain ? For those who have never heard of MLTR, MLTR stands for Micheal Learns to Rock. Its a Danish band and is extremely popular in Asia. I purchased "Paint my Love" somewhere in 97 (it sells for around 50$ on Amazon.com) and still listen to it very often. Both my wife and I enjoy singing along as we know most of the lyrics.
Wow, what a year ! In addition to visting Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Disneyland I also visited London and most importantly Liverpool and other Beatle sites in London. I purchased Rubber Soul, Abbey Road, Magical Mystery Tour by the Beatles. I even went to a concert by the Rolling Stones and Sir Paul playing a ton of Beatle tunes. So what year is it ? If you are thinking of some date in the 60's or 70's you are wrong, the year is 2005. In fact 2005 ends in about a week. This month marked the 25th death anniversary of John Lennon. Lennon was shot dead by some crazy fan in 1980. The Beatles split somewhere in 1970 which is around 45 years back. But you know what, their music is still the best and my guess is it will stay that way....forever !
George Bush and Bin Laden, Palestine and Israel, nationalistic jingosim and religious extremism, proxy wars and nuclear bombs, People, people dont you realize, just one nuke and we'll all vaporize ? All I am saying is we have to keep giving peace a chance. You could argue, Kevin what do you know, you're just a techie. True, very true, there are intellectuals all over the world coming up with ideas for world peace and I definitely do not belong to that elite group of people. But since this is my page, I get to air my opinion. Oh and welcome to my web page. I have tried to keep this site as simple as possible. Feel free to pass on any comments, opinions to me via e-mail to [email protected] ![]() |
