Keizoku is the story of Shibata Jun, an awkward, quirky genius who graduated from the elite of Tokyo University to join the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Force; and Mayama Tôru, a hardened and cynical detective who, despite his skill and experience, had been transferred to the Keizoku department of investigations, handling criminal cases deemed unsolvable by the rest of the department. With dark, indie-inspired cinematography and smooth settings vaguely reminiscent of anime, the timeless story moves through several classic mysteries infused with bizarre humor and subtle, dark hues of philosophy, toward a disturbing tale of power, loyalty, deceit, and betrayal.

The cast is headed by a sleep-deprived-looking Nakatani Miki as Shibata, with Watabe Atsuro as Mayama, and also includes great performances by Suzuki Sarina as the sassy, wise-cracking Kansai office girl, Noguchi Goro as the stiff and foreboding administrator, and Ryuu Raita as the avuncular head of the Keizoku department.

Really, really new note, 2007: Someone recently tried to contact me by tracing me through this site, which I made about a decade ago and then completely forgot, so I changed the e-mail address below to my current one on the fear that there may have been more than one. This does not mean, however, that I will be able to update and correct the translation errors and other silly things that I put on here during my first year of college. Please enjoy the current monstrosity to the fullest extent possible. End of new content.
