Art of Keith F. Gittens, Barbados, W.I.
#12.  - Street Scene, Speightstown  -  24" x 30". US$1250
It's dusk in Speightstown, the northern port town that was once nicknamed "Little Bristol" because of its links with the southern English port city in the era of sugar and slaves. Speightstown, which retains much of its quaint eighteenth century charm, was an important part of the triangular trade. It was from there that sugar and molasses were shipped to Europe. This treatment of Speightstown is more haunting as it suggests an endangered architectural heritage.
