German Day!

Ok, my German prof has picked me and my peer Real to give a speech. The topic: Why learn German in Canada? As it turns out it was more than a little speech. I have to deliver the speech in Immaculata Hall... in front of all the general public, all the German students, some Professors, the dean of arts, the president of the university, and the kicker... an official german diplomat. the German diplomat's title is "Germany's console to Canada". We then have the option to attend an optional dinner. A dinner with the Dean, STFX President, and a German diplomat! Anyhow I have the speech I plan to read below.

Why learn German in Canada?

Well german day was the 5th of November, and went off without a hitch. The school President (Sean Riley) got his ass out of there as soon as he could. He gave his speech and then during a 15 minute break snuck out! The German diplomat couldn't speak English as well as we thought. She is the general consule in the Montreal office, so she speaks french all day pretty much. But there were nine of us on the panel that were to talk about why German was important to our trade, or how it influenced our disciplines. there was some German music and a wine and cheese session afterwards. One of my friends decided to come and sit out the three hour adventure. Afterwards a German lady came up and started blabing to him in German. he had to tell her he didn't speak German... and he was the only one in the room who didn't know german :P It's probably funnier if you were there.
