Personality Tomoe seem like Soujirou, she initually seems to be missing the basic imotions. But it's not all true. Tomoe isn't missing imotions she just doesn't show them outwardly. Her face is calm and cool, and showing no evidence of her feelings. She is actually very gentle and quet person who has trouble smiling. Tomoe even edmits it herself.
Background Nothing much is known about Tomoe's past. Tomoe's mother died after her brother, Enishi, was born. The two of them were left under her father's care. He was not a rich man but they had enough money to eat and live a descent life. Later, Kiyosato Akira who was Tomoe's old childhood friend, proposes to Tomoe. Tomoe was extremely happy but could not show it in her emotions. Perhaps this is why Kiyosato went to work for the Shinshen Gumi in Kyoto, to earn higher social standings and make Tomoe happy. Unfortunately, he was killed by Hitokiri Battousai. Tomoe wanted to avenge her lover's death when she learned he was killed. She found a group called the Yaminobu, who were a secret group who supported the Edo Bakufu. This group created a plan that envolved Tomoe getting closer to Hitokiri Battousai to learn of his weaknesses. One night, Tomoe was at a resturaunt, she was approache by a couple of drunks but were stopped by Battousai who apparently was there too. She witnesses Battousai kill an assassin faint. Battousai did not know what to do with her, kill her because she had seen who he was or let her go. When she fainted, he took her to the hotel where he was staying at.
