Personality Since he died in the begining of the movie, there's not much to say about his personality. He was a brother of Shigure, and Shigure cared for him deeply. Shigure was left devistaited when he was killed and remembered that day for the rest of his life, seeking revenge.
Backround History Theres not really much known about him, but he was part of the Shinshengumi. There was an attack on the Ishinshishi's secret head quarters while Hitokiri was present as the body guard of the Ishinshishi's leader. On that night, Gentatsu was murdered by Hitokiri. Shigure entered the scene and witnessed Battousai's swift, powerful moves kill Gentatsu.
