Keiji Gotoh
Introduction

a.k.a. The Webmaster's Ramble

I first became aware of Keiji Gotoh's work upon being introduced to Martian Successor Nadesico. Gotoh's cute character design, combined with a clever script and wacky humor, made me fell in love with the series instantly. It was later that I realized some of my previously-viewed anime Bakurestu Hunters and Those who Hunt Elves were also the handy work of Gotoh. His follow-up work to the Nadesico TV series, Nadesico Movie: Prince of Darkness, reinforced my admiration for him as he managed to update the characters with a more mature and realistic look without losing the original elements. His teenage update of Ruri Hoshino, the fans-favorite Nadesico character, is no doubt a masterpiece that will remain as one of the most popular anime character ever.

With his success in Nadesico, Gotoh is now highly in demand in the anime industry for his gorgeous artwork. His beautifully choreographed direction on the opening and ending animation of Himiko Den stands out as the highlight of the series. His recent work, Playstation based anime Gate Keepers is one of buzzworthy series about to be released in US.  Gotoh is currently at work as character designer for a new anime series Shokan Kyoshi.
