What Others are Saying (continued)
I would like to state that I vehemently oppose any rezoning of the old   Grovebrook Golf Course property.  If Grove City is to grow to a first class community it needs green space.  Otherwise it will face a future of  becoming a bedroom community slum, as other areas build up that
offer it's  residents a better quality of recreational life. I think since the price of  energy will remain high, that a nice green area for people to enjoy should be  very important to the Grove City.  It also would allow families to spend  not only more time in Grove City, but more of their money in Grove City.

I would invite anyone to ride down London - Groveport
Road between Hoover and  I-70. On the South side a few months ago there was a green area with large trees  that offered a nice mental enjoyment while hiding some of the Fed Ex warehouse  complex.  Now that land is stripped for more warehousing.  Another issue.  (Suggest you look at Obetz and some of the old warehouse eye sores  there to see what we should prevent in Grove City).

I have traveled extensively and have noted that long enduring or better
class cities have green areas. Fountainbleu, Fr., Warsaw,  Santiago,  Chile with it's extensive park system, Hong Kong, where residents would practice  Tai Chi in morning and sit with family in the evenings. Even
in China with it's  large population, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Yantai, Xian, etc, all had green areas for their residents.

Councils actions will decide if Grove City survives as a first class city, or  becomes a former bed room slum, (where the future population moves out to seek a better quality of life).  I think Grove City can
continue to grow and can continue toward becoming a classy community for all of it's residents to enjoy.
I am writing to express my concern that the Grove Brook Golf Course may be rezoned to allow the building of senior citizen housing, possible office buildings and other possibilities. I live in Hoover Crossing and we already have VERY HEAVY traffic through our neighborhood with many people using it as a cut through to Haughn Road or vice-versa. I am concerned about additional development along Hoover Road creating even more traffic both in our neighborhood and on Hoover Road as well.

When we had our house built in 1992, we thought Grove City was the best kept secret in Franklin County!. We really love Grove City and I am glad we finally have great stores for shopping and some wonderful new restaurants as well.  Of course this has created a lot of additional traffic and so has the continued building of single family homes and the many condo communities. Our roads (such as White Rd.) are not able to sustain the heavier traffic patterns and I know they will need to be widened which causes further stress and inconvience to all of us.

I strongly believe we must also have some decent parkland for our citizens.  The nicest park, in my opinion, is Gantz Park but it is not very large.  I do NOT like Fryer park.  It is NOT an inviting place to be.  I took my grandson to the new playground ONE time and we haven't been back.  I am a member at the Y and I notice that this expensive playground is not  used much at all.  What is the reason?  There are no shady spots or benches for parents/grandparents to sit down.  The park itself doesn't have nice shaded areas for picnics or any kind of walking paths.  Yet this park is touted as such a great park. Only the ball diamonds seem to be used.  Recently my family wanted to go to a park for a cookout and walk in the woods.  Fryer Park wasn't an option and Gantz is too small.  We ended up traveling several miles out of Grove City to go to a Columbus Metro Park.  What a shame!!

I am very interested in seeing Grove Brook Golf Course used as a wonderful parkland for our Grove City residents.  It has such possibilities and I am sure it would be well used by residents if it offered bike paths, picnic spots, shelter houses, playgrounds and just open place for throwing the Frisbee!  We have many other areas around Grove City that can be developed for Senior Citizen housing and office buildings, stores, etc.  We don't have much green space left.  I know you love Grove City and you want to hear from Citizens, so I thank you for taking the time to read this very long email!  Please consider the needs and desires of the Grove City residents regarding the need for parks.  Much of the so-called park land we are counting as parks is not usable.  It looks good on paper but is not the reality.

Sincerely,

Cheryl Jackson
