| Who is Holly McKimson? My Slogan is: Believe in the Magic of Believing and Dreaming..." I suppose my story begins as a little girl who watched her father at his drawing board as he drew cartoon and comic book characters. First it was the Disney characters, then Warner Bros. Looney Tunes Cartoons, and also for Whitman Publishing-Dell Comic Books. My father, Charles McKimson Jr and my two uncles, Robert and Tom McKimson were the creators, directors, and animaters of the famous Looney Tunes cartoons and characters. After a serious operation which removed part of my father's stomach, and almost killed him, he left Warner Bros, to create his own business creating titles and special effects for movies and commercials in an Animation Art and Title company which was based in the heart of Hollywood, Calfiornia. I was in awe of my father and his talent, and I wanted to be able to draw just like him. However, when he tried to teach me to draw, I had my own ideas. And of course, I developed my own style by listening to "some" of what he told me. I began drawing and scribbling as a toddler. Experimenting with all kinds of mediums through the years, my all time favorite turned out to be pen and ink, and watercolor pencils--or, whatever suits my fancy at the time. I have even squashed leaves and flower petals to create colors, and designs. Now that the computer has come available, I enjoy creating computer generated or enhanced graphics from my own work. I have always been one who wanted to share with the "world" all that I see that is beautiful or that inspires an emotion within me, both in my writings and artwork. I have always wanted to touch as many hearts as I possibly could. With the Internet that is now possible. I love to make people laugh and smile. I never have been one to be like everyone else, and seem to have always gone against the grain, creating new ideas, and new ways of doing things. All my life I never felt like I really fit in...that is until I discovered that being "different" isn't so bad after all. I enjoy being a creator of new and different ideas. When I create something for someone, they now know that they will receive something unique and different. If they want something "ordinary" they have come to the wrong place. Someday I hope to finish the writing of my Sci-fi-fantasy book. I have been writing it on and off for years...It just seems it never ends... It's creation is based on dreams I have had since I was just a child. Parts of it were stolen along with a book of my poetry. I also have two poetry books that are ready for publishing. I also enjoy photography, and at one time was a photographer for Rock 'n Roll bands, which in itself was quite an adventure...sometime I will share with you some of the funny stories I lived through... Both my artwork and writings portfolio have been stolen twice--never to be recovered. It was a challenge to start over again, but I was able to because they couldn't steal my imagination or will. I hope to share my work and my imagination with the public eye in many different ways, and perhaps bring joy where there has been sadness or pain. I believe that if and when we can help someone "believe" and "dream" they have a chance in the world to become whatever they so desire. I have learned NEVER to say NEVER... for if you can DREAM it, it is there in the making to become REALITY...Sometimes things may be improbable, but NEVER IMPOSSIBLE... I believe God wants me alive for a reason--even if it's to touch just one heart. I truly believe it's partly because of my artwork, photography, and writings that I have been placed here. The reason I state this, is because every time I have tried my hardest to get away from them and go on to something else, I always come back to them... A severe car accident in 1990 almost ended everything I had ever dreamed of becoming reality. However, after a being in "recluse" for about 12 years after a severe car accident, and not "creating" my works, I have decided not to let anything interfere with my dreams ever again. Setbacks have always been in my life, and I have had to start over many times, but I always seem to come back to my love of art, photography, and writing. My dream...well, my dream is to bring smiles, laughter, joy, dreams, hope, and the miracle of believing into the lives of both children and adults alike, no matter what background they are from... I live in the mountains, and have found that I am at peace here. I have began designing websites, and have a powerful love for it. Welcome to my world... |
