The Marine And The Christmas Doll

The holidays were upon us, and the spirit of Christmas
    in the air
And a little girl named Suzi, would stop by the store
    windows and stare
She spotted a beautiful doll, with golden hair in
    ribbons and bows
And a blue satin dress, that was so long it almost
    covered her toes

Each day she would stop by the window-
and make sure it was there
She dreamed of one day holding this doll, but
her family didn't have the money to spare
One day the school took all the kids, on a field
    trip to the mall
To see Santa and tell him their wishes,Suzi wanted
to talk to him most of all

She dined on cookies and egg nog, while she
    patiently waited in line
Then, finally,it came her turn, and up on St Nick's
    lap she climbed
He greeted her with,'Ho Ho Ho What would you like Santa
    to bring you,my dear'
She asked him to bring her mother happiness,
and for daddy to be able to get a job next year

    And before she forgot--------
    this sweet little tot -----------
said 'Could you please bring my brother a basketball'
Santa touched by her unselfishness asked,
    'and what would you like'
Suzi told him about the doll

Later that night he thought about Suzi, and couldn't
get her out of his mind
So then he set out and-- went on a mission to find
This doll Suzi told him about
with golden hair in ribbons and bows
the one with the blue satin dress
    that almost covered her toes

In the frost bit night-he went to every store in town
He searched for this doll in the blue satin dress
    until he finally found
A window with a sign that read
two days left and everything must go
In the store was the doll-with golden hair
    in ribbons and bows
So he purchased the doll and saw a box
That read for needy children, donate a toy for tots

And he placed the special doll inside with a note
On the doll he scrolled her address---
and put 'for Suzi' in quotes
The next day Suzi stopped by the store she was saddend
    by what she saw
A teddy bear was in the display window
    where once sat the doll

On Christmas eve, Suzie traced a doll on the
    frosted window pane
When through the snow she saw someone
    coming up the lane
It wasn't Santa Claus, for he was much to skinny to be
And he wasn't wearing a red suit, and was
    dressed too formally
He was carrying packages, and a great big box
when the next thing she heard, were three loud knocks

Her mother answered the door--and in walked a Marine
With a cooked goose and apple pie, a la mode with whipped
    cream
He handed out the presents he brought
and gave her brother a basketball
He talked with Suzi's dad about a job
then walked over to Suzi and gave her the doll

She was so happy and held the doll tight----
if only that person who donated that toy
Could have only seen Suzi's dimpled smile----
and how they had brought her so much joy
Suzi couldn't believe how all her wishes
    had came true
And her family had a Merry Christmas after all
brought to them by someone just like you

So the next time when you are Christmas shopping
and you happen to come across a box
Remember the Marine and the Christmas doll--
and donate a toy for tots.
