Stead- fast falling from the sky From open bosom of the cloud Whooshing, swooshing, whizzing by Covering everything-- in a shroud Drifting in-- valley and hill Blanketing the hamlets, all in white With her ruffled-- lacy frills A pleasant, but perilous sight Whisking squalls, of blowing snow Halting traffic, to a stop Thy journey is- a way to go And the mercury, continues to drop Trudging through the snow drifts-white Through the banks, pure and fair Through the storm, relentless and trite And the frost-bitten air And snow birds rest on branches high Everything is draped in veils And beneath their feathered wings, hide The lashing of winter's, gale In stillness calm of night, surrender To the snowy plight Awaken to winter's, charms and splendors To a world enveloped in white.
