    Little Brown Squirrel

    Little Brown Squirrel

Little brown squirrel with the bushy tail
    scurries and scampers around
Hunting for acorns and nuts, that have
    fallen upon the ground
Hastening through the dried autumn leaves
Leaping about from branch to tree
Gathering up nuts, yet, searching for
    more
To put away for his winter store

Little brown squirrel with the bushy tail
Scurrying through the leaf strewn trail
Busy as a bee he nibbles and chucks
Cracking through all the hard shelled nuts
Plump are his cheeks, full, as he carries
All the fallen nuts and berries

Little brown squirrel with the bushy tail,
hoards his stock deep in the core
Waiting for the day, when winter comes
    knocking at his door

Little brown squirrel with the bushy tail
Hiding away from the cold winds wail
He curls up his tail, in a cozy wrap
And settles in, for a lengthy winter nap.
