Keele Globalise Resistance

Save Free Education

The fight for the abolition of student fees is one of Keele GR’s major campaigns this semester.  Many students ask why we are bothering to fight this issue, hopefully some of the information on this page will help those of you who are unhappy with the situation realise that our campaign could have a direct affect on your life.  £15 millions is still outstanding in tuition fees from last year that’s 10 percent of the total that should have been collected! Tuition fees and student loans are unworkable, this ?december? the government will be making a decision over the future of tuition fees - the time to act is now!

If you answered yes to any of these questions then maybe you should become involved.

This semester we will be organising demonstrations on campus and attending the NUS regional and national demos - although obviously we believe a march on parliament is far more effective than a march through the back streets to a park in the middle of east london somewhere. We will be helping organise keele's part in the national shutdown, hopefully making it a bigger success on campus than last year. We will also be running a solidarity campaign with those people that are unable to pay tuition fees. As yet we are unsure where this may lead although such tactics as occupation are not out of the question.

WE CAN BEAT THE FEES!

If you don’t have to pay fees yourself....
You may still be suffering from the abolition of student grants. Hopefully you are still opposed to the abolition of free education. It will also affect your friends and relatives either now or in the future. You can support the protests, which are continuing to be organised. You can provide back up to those students who are unable or refusing to pay.
