Welcome to the official Keadue Rovers Website. The function of this site is to keep Rovers fans at home and abroad up to date with the latest developments at Central Park, and also give the casual browser a brief overview of our world famous club.
Formed in 1896 the name which is most synonymous with Keadue Rovers, with the exception of "success"!, is that of Packie Bonner. Packie left Keadue at the age of 17 to join Celtic, winning numerous trophies and minding the hoops goal on no less than 500 occassions. During that time he went on to establish himself as Irelands number one Goalkeeper, where he won a record 82 caps for a goalkeeper during the magnificent Jack Charlton era. He featured prominently at Euro 88 in Germany, World Cup 94 in the USA but is most famously remembered for his penalty save in the 1990 World Cup Vs Romania which made the Bhoy from Keadue a National hero.
Keadue Rovers however survived without their most famous son and enjoyed its most successful period in the clubs history in the 80s and early 90s winning all major honours in the Donegal Junior football and distingushing itself at national level. We celebrated our Centenary year in 1996 and it was with great pride that Packie himself brought over a youthful Celtic team to mark the occassion. The match was played in glorious conditions on the 20th of July 1996 and 3000 people desended on Central park for the occassion which must rank as one the the greatest days in our clubs history.
1996 was also the year that the club made the step up from the Donegal League to intermediate level where we have made steady progress, but have yet to claim honours, indications are that we shall do so in the very near future!.
