| A NEW SCHOOL? | ||||||||
| Tuesday Ring! Katya's alarm is going off and she gets up, gets her siblings up, and gets ready for school. This morning, Kegan got a ride with his brother, so Kat and her siblings walk to school alone. Matthew heads off to the Middle School while Kat and Mellisa go into the High School. 'Another boring day of school,' Kat thinks as she walks into study hall and sits down. Kat has a really good memory and has already memorized her schedule and locker com. The thing with these lockers is that you have to pass the last number and the locker would open. Kat then heads to history. She only has to go to her locker once during the day, because you are allowed to carry your backpack with you. When Kat gets to Spanish, Luke is there already and teases her. It's nothing major. Kat thinks that they will be friends before the year is out. Well, eventually school is over and Kegan walks home with the girls. Matthew is up ahead with some kids his age. Kat thinks back to before school started, the Sundays with Teen Night. She remembers Justin trying to get her. Boy, Justin could make her laugh. He was going to pay her a buck for a reason, but she said no. He wanted her to help him eat a French fry, when he was trying to be cute on the table and lifting up his shirt (he had a nice stomach), and the time he walked around in a super tight pink t-shirt. She then thinks back to when she broke up with Jeffrey. Kat and Jeff walked to the park. On the way, she told him about Justin. He then handed her a letter. He had always written her letters so she wasn't surprised to get this one. She opened the letter and saw "Sorry, Jeffrey" written on the bottom. She then continued to read the letter. When she was done, she folded it back up and cried. They finished walking to the park and sat there. Both Kat and Jeffrey had cried and then they walked back. Kat broke up with him and then hadn't talked to him since. There's a tap on Katya's shoulder and she looks up to see Mellisa and Kegan standing there. "Tell mom I'm going to Kegan's house, ok? I'm getting help from him on my homework," Mellisa states before walking with Kegan across the street. Katya continues home and then to her room. She does her homework and then lays down on her bed to watch a movie. But before she knows it, she's being woken up and finding that it's 7p and that dinner is done. She goes downstairs and eats. Then she goes outside, hops on her bike, and takes off down the road. She goes past the store and stops at the library. The library is closed, Kat knows this, but she sits under the bridge on the rocks. The only noise she hears is the water and the cars above the bridge. But soon, a new noise is added. Someone joins her on the rocks. Except, he stays out from under the bridge. "Hello," the guy calls. "May I join you? My name is Andrew." "Sure you can join me," Kat says. The guy nods and climbs over by Katya. "My name is Katya, but most people call me Kat." Kat then notices the guy, whom she had thought was older, is about her age. "How old are you, Andrew?" "Oh, sorry. I'm 16. I'll be 17 in mid-February. February 14th, actually," Andrew grins. "Cool. I'll be 17 on January 28th," Kat states. "So whats up, Andrew?" Andrew is kinda tall, Kat guesses about 5'11. He has blonde hair that Kat can't help but think about running her fingers through it. He looks ok-looking. But Kat doesn't look very interested. "Umm. Not much. How about yourself?" The first thing Kat does is look up. Then she grins and looks back at Andrew. "The sky is up. As is the bridge, the cars, you know, that kind of thing." Kat laughs. Andrew chuckles and looks away. "Well, I gotta get back home. It was nice meeting you, Andrew." And Kat sticks out her hand to shake hands. Tuesday Evening "How about I ride with you? Where do you live?" Andrew questions. Kat tells him that she lives on the corner of Depot and Main. "Hey, so do I. You walk to school, right?" Kat nods. They get up, climb the rocks, and get their bikes. They arrive at Kat's house and Andrew goes with Kat to put her bike away. Kat invites him inside. "Mom, I'm home," Kat calls to her mother. Her mom says she's in the kitchen, so Kat grabs Andrew's hand and pulls him with her into the kitchen. "Mom, this is Andrew. Andrew, my mother, Sylvia. Mom, Andrew was at the bridge where I was." "Nice to meet you, Andrew. You two can sit outside and talk for a while or what not. Have fun and be good," Kat's mom says. So Kat leads Andrew outside to the swing. As soon as they reach the swing, the phone rings. Kat's mom answers it. "Kat, you want to talk to Jeffrey?" Kat looks away from Andrew and says no. "Sorry Jeffrey, she has company right now." Kat's mom hangs up the phone after saying goodbye. "Is Jeffrey your boyfriend? Is that why you didn't want to talk to him while I'm here? Cuz I'll leave," Andrew states. "Actually, he's my ex. And I don't want to talk to him, even if no one is here. And you don't have to stay. I just thought we could get to know each other and stuff," Kat explains. "Oh. I'm sorry. It's just that most people don't like to talk to their boy- or girl-friends when someone else is around. So I thought he was your boy-friend," Andrew states looking the other way. "Don't worry about it. So do you have a girl-friend? Sorry. That's probably personal," Kat blushes. Andrew looks her in the eye. "No, actually, I've never had a girl-friend. None of the pretty girls like talking to me. Not that I'd go out with a girl because of her looks. But all the girls that might be interested in me don't have anything in common with me. Sorry about going on and on. So I take it you're single?" Andrew turns crimson. "Yes I'm single. I just moved here. So far I've met you, Justin at Teen Night, and one other person from school, Luke. So it's not as though I've had time to date or anything. Why? "I was just wondering. I saw you at Teen Night. You're really good at the Casper Slide. I was going to ask you to dance but I was too chicken," Andrew blushes a deeper red. After just formally meeting Katya, and having fallen in love with her when he watched her do the Casper Slide, he was embarrassed to tell her how he felt. But he wasn't actually telling her, was he? "Oh," Kat says, blushing. "I didn't know you saw me do the Casper Slide. I didn't see you at any of the Teen Nights. I went there to try and make friends before school. But that didn't work seeing as how I still have no friends here." "Kat, it's getting late. Andrew should be heading home," Kat's mother calls to them. So Andrew gets on his bike and rides across the street. Kat waves to him and then heads turns to head inside. But Andrew calls her over quickly. She runs across the street. "I really should go. I have to get my brother and sister yet," Kat says. "What time to you leave the house in the morning?" Andrew asks. Kat tells him. "I'll be waiting here at that time then. Bye, Kat." Andrew kisses Kat's cheek and then Kat heads down the road. "Kat arrives at home and can't believe she met Andrew. And he's going to walk with them to school in the morning. But then she shakes her head. 'It can't be. This is probably just his be-nice-to-the-new-girl attitude. I mean, why would he actually want to be nice to me?' "Kat, telephone," Mellisa calls upstairs. Kat goes downstairs to find that Kolenya is on the phone. Kat and Kol talk for almost an hour before they hang up. Kat then goes up to bed. |
