1. JOHANNES THOMSON owned land in Dunbarton that had belonged in 1410 to Wm. Thomson who was collector of customs in 1410 as per. his account rendered at Perth, July 1410. He was Bailiff in 1429 to 1431 and commisioner in 1435. John figures in an Ayrshire deed in 1486. And left a wife CHRISTENA, (who) lives at Newton Grange.

JAMES THOMSON, first child of Isabella Normand born about 1520 on May 17 1556 had lands rented of John Dunbar of Balntyre near Glasgow at Syide for which he paid a yearly rent of one firlot of barley (a firlot of barley was 3.232 cubic inches, equalled fourth part of a ball. A ball of barley containes 6 bushels) He married MARION COCHRAN, and on Sept. 11 1566..They grant to their son THOMAS THOMSON six ox gangs of earth in Syide (an oxgang was equivalent to 13 acres)

6. WILLIAM THOMSON their youngest son born 1570. Married by license granted Sept 14 1599 to ELISABETH CUNNINGHAM, He died proyor to Feb 20 1630.
7.WILLIAM his eldest son, born Aug 12 1600 married June 12, 1627 JANET, daugther of JOHN HAY, She survived him many years. He settled in Leith about 1631 and died there "polent ariiburgenois" pryor to April 25, 1633. When his third son:

WILLIAM THOMSON born Sept 7 1630 was declaired heir after his fathers death on April 25 1633 He married on June 11 1657 MARY FORDYCE who was born December 1, 1658 daughter of Samuel Fordyce and Abigale his wife who was daughter of Wm. GALLAGHER.. William Thomson was a baker and a man of substance in the community and was burgess of Fairfield in Lananhahire He died in 1687 or 1686.
9. HUGH THOMSON third child and second son of the above was born Dec. 11 1660. He emigrated in 1685 to Ciough County Antrim, Ireland. where on June 4, 1693 he married MARGARET, daughter of Samuel CRAIG, of Letterkenny, County Donegal and his wife who was the daughter Robert PATTERSON Sr. Hugh Thomson has been on Apr 18 1689 sworn and admitted as an inhabitant of Letterkenny and on Sept 11 1690 leased an acre of land for 21 years. 10. JOHN THOMSON, born in Letterkeney, County Donegal, Ireland. May,4,1695. Was apprenticed to Robert Wilson, dyer from which apprenticeship he was releasedd in 1709. He married on Oct 16, 1719, MARY WILSON, daughter of said Robert and his wife Agnes, who was a daughter of James GILMORE of Newton, Alford Presbatery. He emigrated to Lancaster Co. Pa. about 1733, and has warrants of land Sept 10,1736 and Dec 6 1738. Here moved to Cumberland, Co which was organized Jan 27 1750. and died there in 1783 aged 88 years where his eldest son Isaac administered on his estate.
