A Tribute to Kate Magowan

The Story

We watched a couple of total bores the first day and I started to rag on Raj, as he's supposedly into the "hip" and "trendy" films. Obviously if hip and trendy mean pretentious and blase, Raj has won the Big Award of the Night. But, the second night of films, Raj almost knocks the glass of Black Label out of my hands. Raj is all excited that there's a film of one of his favorite DJs Frankie Wild. Raj saw Frankie Wild spin at 1015 Folsom in San Francisco and then also at some club in New York. Anyways, Raj had some bootleg cassette (come on, dude, time to get digital) of this guy spinning in Ibiza.

Well, I'm jonesin' for a smoke, so just as the movie is starting (I know, poor form, but I was a bit hung over too) I go outside and have a smoke. This chick bums a cigarete off me, and she's umbelievably attractive. We start chatting about Canada and she tells me about London. This other fella, strolls by and the three of us are just hangin' out and smoking. He's friggin' hilarious and it turns out they know each other.

Anyways, I finish off my second and go find Raj. Well, Holy Mother of Canada, it turns out that the chick and the dude are in the movie. It was Kate Magowan and the guy who's playing the DJ, Paul Kaye.

I tell Raj and he doesn't believe me, but Raj also believes that aliens landed at Roswell, so he's all crap anyways.

So, here's to you, Kate, for sharing a smoke (and you too Paul).
