About us

The Karadhe Brahmin Sangh Belgaum was established in the year 1967. After conducting a few functions the activities of the sangh stopped due to some or the other reasons.

Then in the year 1992-93, a revival of this sangh took place with the initiative of some senior members, who were a part of the sangh established in 1967. They were many who took the initiative like Shri.Vasantrao Gurjar, Shri.Madhukar Gurjar just to name a few.

Till 1995, the members were restricted to Belgaum city only. But the then committee decided under the able leadership of Shri.Madhukar Gurjar that we need to spread our wings and get our other Karadhes in the vicinity under one roof so that our voice can be heard and also that active involvement of the community members in the sangh from those areas. Hence members were made from places like Londa, Khanapur, Nandgad, Halshi, Asoga & Dandeli.

Since then, i.e.1996-97 the sangh in real terms became active and it is doing different programs all the year round. To add a feather in the hat, the Karadhe Brahmin Sangh Mahaadhiveshan was organized in 1997 at Belgaum. Committee members of different Karadhe Brahmin Sanghs from all across India participated in the two-day Mahaadhiveshan from places like Nagpur, Mumbai, Pune, thane, Dombivili, Ratnagiri, Kolhapur, Hubli, Sirsi, Mangalore just to name a few. This Mahaadhiveshan was a grand success and the sangh was highly appreciated on the initiative taken by the sangh even though it was the sangh’s only second year of functioning after its revival.

We at the Sangh always believe that constant interaction within the community will bring us all much more closely and achieve our goals. To achieve this goal we undertake various activities all round the year which include Sankrant festival, Annual general meeting, individual singing competitions, fancy dress, composition writing, magic show, cooking competitions, health check ups, slide shows on Savarkar, honoring senior citizens and meritious students and also honoring members who have achieved awards and honor.

Another most important activity of the sangh has been the formation of the education fund. The need for starting the education fund arose in the year 2000 when a couple of members approached the sangh for some financial help so that their children could complete their higher education. Members were asked to donate generously towards this fund and all the members have taken a active part in the fund till date by donating very generously from time to time. To begin with the corpus of the fund was only Rs.Fifty thousand but in the years to come the corpus has grown many folds and now the corpus will achieve its first target of Rs.six lakhs in the year 2006-07. Since 2000 the fund has given free loan scholarship to needy and deserving students. Our sangh helped India to get a Architect, a MBA, a graduate from the national school of drama, an engineer to name a few. Every year 3-4 new students are given the scholarship in addition to the previous ones. “Well begun is half won” Students who passed out with flying colors from their respective courses have started paying back the loan they had taken. Infact, three students have fully repaid the loan amount they had taken and now are contributing to the fund so that the others could be benefited from this good act.
