Hearth and Home

They say that home is where the heart is. I have moved a lot in my life, so I am struggling to find a place that I call home. For now, home is wherever my family is. I have a wonderful husband, and four beautiful daughters. See their pictures here.

I am pagan, a born-again tree-hugging dirt worshipper. I consider myself a cottage witch, though I don't do many spells or rituals, so I probably shouldn't call myself a witch. I do say hello to Lady Moon every time I see her. The kitchen is my sanctuary. I try to put a bit of love into everything I make in there. I try to at least acknowledge the Sabbats as they arrive and pass by, and I try to serve foods with an appropriate theme on those days. A couple years ago I was much better at putting my religion to practice, but I have fallen away from it. I hope to get back into it again once I find a home for my altar in my new house. I don't keep a Book of Shadows like most other pagans. Instead, I have a few books, a Book of Wisdom, a Book of Rhythms, and a Book of Cookery.

We recently moved house, and I am mostly unpacked. There are still some boxes lying around, like books waiting for us to get another bookcase. I finally got some decorating done. I put up curtains, and hung up the pictures. It makes it feel more like a home. I am also hoping to plant a garden this spring. Since we live in a complex, I will have to settle for container gardening, but that is much better than the nothing I have had the last few years. I still battle the clutter monster, too, but with Flylady's help, I am getting that under control. I finally got unpacked enough to take some photos which you can see here.
